Monster Mashup: Glow-in-the-Dark Fun, Monster Art, Potions
Monster Mashup October 21 | 12–4 PM | Ages 6–9, 10+ as CITs
What if you could design your very own monster — using real science? In this wildly creative half-day program, kids become monster biologists, engineers, and artists as they design, build, and bring their own scientifically-plausible creature to life.
Young monster makers will:
- Study real animal adaptations (such as echolocation, venom, regeneration) and use them to design their own monster with a scientific explanation for every feature
- Build a 3D monster creation using cardboard, pipe cleaners, foam, googly eyes, and mixed materials
- Explore the science of bioluminescence with black lights and make a glowing monster potion vial to take home
- Whip up a batch of custom monster slime: bumpy, glittery, or glow-in-the-dark, the choice is theirs
- Present their monster to the group in our Monster Showcase — and vote for the most scientifically plausible, most creative, and most terrifying creature of the day
Campers leave with their monster creation, custom slime, glowing potion vial, and monster design sheet. Perfect for kids who love animals, building, and asking “but what if it was SCARY?” Costumes encouraged.
