Meet Rebecca Ossorio, PhD — the newest member of The Community Classroom team! 🐾✨

Rebecca`s path to teaching our Critter Club is one of the most beautifully winding we have ever encountered. She began her teaching career at Kripalu`s month-long yoga teacher training in 1999, teaching yoga across New York`s Hudson Valley before continuing into elementary and early childhood education.
.
Along the way she had a realization that changed everything: whether she was teaching math to first graders or yoga to grown-ups, her role was always the same — supporting students in connecting with themselves and the stuff of the world. 💛
That philosophy led her to complete her doctorate in education in 2013, exploring the overlap between educational theory and yogic philosophy. She has spent the past ten years as an education consultant and researcher, including conducting child assessments for the Early Learning Study at Harvard.

She is a certified early childhood and elementary teacher, a certified yoga teacher, a PhD, and one of the most whole-hearted educators we have ever had the privilege of welcoming to this community.

Manga + Munchies is an 11-session afterschool club at High Five Books where kids explore age-appropriate Japanese comics and graphic novels, learning about visual storytelling, manga art styles, and Japanese culture. All while snacking on international treats from around the world every single session.
