This week a group of young authors walked into our Young Authors & Illustrators camp with blank pages and big ideas. 📚
They walked out with finished books. Real, handmade, hand-dyed, researched, written, and illustrated books that are entirely and completely their own.

Here is everything that went into making that happen:
📚 Big vocabulary. Big ideas. Big questions about the place we call home.
🧵 Hand-dyed silk endpapers — one of a kind, just like the authors who made them.
🏛️ A historical walking tour of Florence with Kim from the David Ruggles Center.
📖 Research skills from the librarians at Lilly Library.
✒️ One-on-one writing consultations and a visit from one incredible guest author, MK Smith Deprés.
🐛 A visit from local silkworm expert Faith Deering through our partnership with Grow Food Northampton.
📚 And then — the writing. The illustrating. The editing. The finishing.
