Is Bigfoot real? What’s actually lurking in Loch Ness? And should you REALLY be worried about spiders crawling into your mouth while you sleep? 🕷️

Mythbusters Club is a 10-session afterschool investigation into the world’s most fascinating cryptids, urban legends, and unsolved mysteries — where kids don’t just explore the lore, they think like scientists and investigate the evidence. Each session dives into a new legend from two angles: what people believe, and what the science actually says. Then kids make their own verdict. 

This is not just a monster fan club. This is critical thinking disguised as the most exciting afterschool program of the year.

Each session follows the Mythbusters Framework:

• 🔍 The Legend — where did this story come from and why do people believe it?
• 🧪 The Evidence — what proof exists and how was it collected?
• 🔬 The Investigation — what does science say? What experiments can we run?
• ⚖️ The Verdict — busted, plausible, or confirmed?
• 📓 The Field Journal — kids record their findings like real investigators

Every session, young investigators add a new page to their official Mythbusters Field Journal, building a complete investigation log they keep at the end of the season. 

Along the way, Mythbusters Club members will build real skills that go far beyond cryptids:

• Scientific thinking and the investigation process
• Evidence evaluation — how do we know what we know?
• Critical thinking and healthy skepticism
• Research, note-taking, and presentation skills
• Media literacy — why do people believe things that aren’t true?
• Cultural literacy — where do legends come from and what do they tell us about society?
• The courage to say “I don’t know — let’s find out” 

This club is perfect for curious kids who love mysteries, science, a good scare, and the thrill of finding out what’s REALLY going on. Just the right amount of spooky. Not too much, we promise. 🔍

Mythbusters Club meets Mondays from 3:30–5:00 PM at High Five Books. Ages 7–10. Ages 11 and up are invited to join as Counselors-in-Training.
