Unicorn Club
🦄 Unicorn Club
A Magical After-School Experience for Ages 6–9
CIT Program for Ages 10+
Presented by The Community Classroom + High Five Books + special appearances from A2Z Science and Learning Toy Store
Once a week, the week of January 5 – March 27th, 11 weeks, 3:30-5 pm on Tuesdays, $275 pp, $25/day
Step into a world of sparkles, stories, and social-emotional learning with Unicorn Club—a whimsical winter program where imagination meets real skill-building. Each participant will adopt their very own unicorn stuffie during a special adoption ceremony, complete with certificates, name tags, and a promise to care for their magical new friend.
Each week, children and their unicorns embark on “training sessions” designed to strengthen creativity, emotional awareness, and executive functioning. Through read-alouds, craft-based challenges, and gentle skill practice, kids will learn how to care for their unicorn—while learning how to organize materials, manage time, plan projects, and recognize feelings in themselves and others.
Unicorn Club is cozy, playful, and purposeful—perfect for kids who love magic and making.
🦄 Each session includes:
✨ Cozy read-aloud: unicorn-themed stories that spark discussion about feelings, friendship, and problem-solving
✨ “Unicorn training” activity: a hands-on challenge that builds SEL and executive functioning (planning, sequencing, flexible thinking, and persistence)
✨ Creative crafting that may include:
- Unicorn jewelry and friendship bracelets
- A unicorn habitat or stable
- Mini outfits, blankets, and accessories
- Matching headbands or unicorn tails for kids + their stuffies
✨ Reflection time: gentle journaling or drawing time to practice emotional awareness and tracking “training progress”
🦄 CIT Program (Ages 10+)
Counselors-in-Training support younger participants as “Assistant Unicorn Handlers.” They practice leadership skills, help facilitate crafts, and model emotional regulation and problem-solving while earning community service experience.
🦄 Why Unicorn Club Works
Unicorn Club blends fantasy with foundational skills. While kids are busy caring for their magical pets, they’re also:
- strengthening fine motor skills
- practicing sequencing and organization
- learning to manage materials
