Leslie is an educator and a speech and language pathologist. She works together with students from ages 5-adult to create a learning community in which students are the subjects of their learning, leading their study with their own questions. She believes in teaching for understanding, and for depth over mere coverage. Leslie works in The Community Classroom with students that need specialized instruction in reading, writing, and communication.
Leslie specializes in: dyslexia (reading and spelling study), speech articulation, word study, vocabulary enrichment, and expressive language development. She also works with high-functioning autistic children in social communication skills, such as coping with new situations, functioning in groups and classroom situations, and other challenging issues.
