Heather began her teaching career at a very young age when she taught her stuffed animals how to read. She believes that building strong relationships with students is the most important key to student success.
Heather’s career in education spans over 15 years during which she taught middle school English Language Arts in Prince George’s County, Maryland. At McKinley Technology High School in Washington, DC, she taught English, AP English Language and Composition, media studies, and AVID— the academic program, not the video editing program. She was also Director of School Affairs, an administrative position that oversaw most components of the student experience at McKinley. Her teaching style relies heavily on project-based and experiential learning.
Heather received her B.A. in English and her M.Ed. in middle and high school education from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
