Explore the real science of lift\, drag\, thrust\, and what makes things fly. \nZoom on a Broom Giant Pumpkin Scale — just how heavy IS a giant pumpkin? Inspired by the beloved book\, young apprentices will explore weight\, measurement\, and the surprisingly enormous world of giant pumpkins through a hands-on scale activity that is as delightful as it is educational. \nAdvanced Potion Lab — brew dramatic potions\, which may include a midnight acid-base indicator and a smoking cauldron.  \nWitch Hat Engineering Challenge — compete to build the tallest freestanding witch hat using only cardboard and tape. Engineering under pressure. Halloween edition. \nEdible Witch’s Broom — we’ll explore phases of matter by melting chocolate and making edible brooms. Through hands-on experiments\, real science\, and the kind of curious exploration that makes learning feel like an adventure\, young marine biologists will discover what makes manatees so remarkable — and what we can do to help protect them. \nActivities may include: \nBlubber Glove Experiment — simulate manatee blubber using shortening and ziplock bags and feel firsthand how manatees stay warm in cool water. This one is always a hit — and always a surprise. \nManatee Size Showdown — just how big IS a manatee? Through hands-on experiments\, real science vocabulary\, and the kind of deeply satisfying exploration that kids want to do over and over again\, young scientists will discover the remarkable materials science\, chemistry\, and physics behind why squishy things behave the way they do. \nAnd then they will make their very own Needoh to take home. Because of course they will. \nActivities may include: \nThe Science of Squish — what makes something squishy? What makes something stretchy? What makes something both at the same time? On November 18\, that is exactly what we are doing. \nLittle Chefs is a half-day cooking program where young chefs roll up their sleeves\, learn real kitchen skills\, and create a collection of cozy\, homemade foods — some to enjoy on the spot and some to bring home and share with the people they love most. This is not a cooking show. This is not a kit. This is hands-on\, certified teacher-led cooking where kids discover that the best food is always the kind you make yourself. \nActivities may include: \nHomemade Butter — using just heavy cream and a jar\, young chefs will shake\, shake\, shake their way to real homemade butter and discover the surprising science behind how cream transforms into something completely different. Spread on fresh bread and eaten immediately? Even better. \nSoup Kit Assembly — young chefs will carefully measure\, layer\, and assemble a beautiful take-home soup kit — complete with dry ingredients\, a handwritten recipe card\, and everything a family needs to make a warm\, nourishing pot of soup on a cold November night. This is hands-on\, certified teacher-led forensic science where kids think critically\, observe carefully\, and discover that science is the most powerful detective tool in the world. \nActivities may include: \nSolve a Mystery — a real mystery has been set up and it is waiting to be solved. Young detectives will work together to examine the scene\, collect evidence\, analyze their findings\, and present their verdict. Every clue matters. DESCRIPTION:Whisk and Wonder: Holiday Cooking Edition\nDecember 16 | 12:00–4:00 PM | High Five Books | Ages 6–9 (Ages 10+ as CITs) \nThe holiday season calls for one thing above all else: making something delicious and sharing it with the people you love. On December 16\, that is exactly what we are doing. \nWhisk and Wonder: Holiday Edition is a half-day no-bake cooking program where young chefs whisk\, melt\, roll\, and create their way through a collection of the most festive\, most delicious\, and most giftable holiday treats imaginable — no oven required. This is hands-on\, certified teacher-led cooking where kids discover that the best holiday gifts are always the ones you make yourself. \nActivities may include: \nHot Cocoa Bombs — the most magical holiday treat in the known universe. Young chefs will fill chocolate shells with cocoa mix and marshmallows\, seal them up\, and create the most impressive take-home gift of the season. Drop one in a mug of hot milk and watch the magic happen. \nHoliday Cookie Decorating — using beautifully baked cookies and a rainbow of festive frosting\, sprinkles\, and decorating tools\, young chefs will create edible works of holiday art to take home and share — or eat immediately. We fully support both decisions. \nPopcorn Balls — combine popcorn\, melted marshmallows\, and festive mix-ins into beautiful\, delicious\, completely irresistible popcorn balls. A holiday classic that is as fun to make as it is to eat. \nReindeer Food — a magical mix of oats\, glitter\, and holiday sparkle to sprinkle on the lawn on Christmas Eve for Santa’s reindeer. A beloved holiday tradition that young chefs will make\, package\, and take home with the most important instructions of the season. \nEvery camper leaves with their hot cocoa bombs\, decorated cookies\, popcorn balls\, reindeer food\, and the kind of holiday magic that comes from making everything with your own two hands. The most festive afternoon of the season.
