SUMMARY:Fossil Lab
DESCRIPTION:Fossil Lab\nNovember 11 | 1:00–4:00 PM | High Five Books | Ages 6–9 (Ages 10+ as CITs) \nSomewhere beneath our feet\, the story of life on earth is written in stone. On November 11\, young paleontologists are going to read it. \nFossil Lab is a half-day paleontology program that takes kids deep into the ancient world of fossils — what they are\, how they form\, what they tell us about life on earth millions of years ago\, and how real scientists find and study them. Through hands-on excavation\, real specimens\, fossil casting\, and the kind of deep-time thinking that makes young minds genuinely expand\, young paleontologists will discover that the past is closer than they think — and more extraordinary than they ever imagined. \nActivities may include: \nFossil Identification — examine real fossils with magnifying glasses and field guides\, identifying specimens and discovering the remarkable creatures that left them behind millions of years ago. \nFossil Excavation — dig real fossils out of plaster or sand using brushes and tools just like real paleontologists in the field. The moment of discovery is always unforgettable. \nMake Your Own Fossil — press objects into clay to create beautiful fossil replicas and explore the real science of how fossils form over millions of years. \nEvery camper leaves with their fossil cast\, their clay fossil replica\, and a genuine sense of wonder about the ancient world hiding just beneath the surface of everyday life. 💛 \nPair with Rock Lab (9:00 AM–12:00 PM) and Lunch Bunch (12:00–1:00 PM\, just $10) for a complete and extraordinary day of earth science exploration — from the rocks beneath our feet to the creatures that roamed the earth millions of years ago. \nFossil Lab meets November 11 from 1:00–4:00 PM at High Five Books\, 141 N Main Street\, Florence MA. \nFormer and existing students\, please register through Tutorbird. New students\, please register below by selecting “1/2 day pop-up program\,” then the correct month (November)\, date (11th)\, and time (1-4pm). \n

SUMMARY:Little Chefs
DESCRIPTION:Little Chefs: A Cozy November Kitchen\nNovember 18 | 12:00–4:00 PM | High Five Books | Ages 6–9 (Ages 10+ as CITs) \nNovember calls for warm kitchens\, good food\, and the deep satisfaction of making something delicious from scratch. On November 18\, that is exactly what we are doing. \nLittle Chefs is a half-day cooking program where young chefs roll up their sleeves\, learn real kitchen skills\, and create a collection of cozy\, homemade foods — some to enjoy on the spot and some to bring home and share with the people they love most. This is not a cooking show. This is not a kit. This is hands-on\, certified teacher-led cooking where kids discover that the best food is always the kind you make yourself. \nActivities may include: \nHomemade Butter — using just heavy cream and a jar\, young chefs will shake\, shake\, shake their way to real homemade butter and discover the surprising science behind how cream transforms into something completely different. Spread on fresh bread and eaten immediately? Even better. \nSoup Kit Assembly — young chefs will carefully measure\, layer\, and assemble a beautiful take-home soup kit — complete with dry ingredients\, a handwritten recipe card\, and everything a family needs to make a warm\, nourishing pot of soup on a cold November night. A gift as delicious as it is thoughtful. \nCookie Decorating — using beautifully baked cookies and a rainbow of frosting\, sprinkles\, and decorating tools\, young chefs will create edible works of art to take home and share — or eat immediately. We support both decisions completely. \nHot Cocoa Bar — because every great cooking session deserves a warm and cozy ending. Young chefs will sip hot cocoa and celebrate everything they created together. \nEvery camper leaves with their homemade butter\, their take-home soup kit\, a box of decorated cookies\, and the kind of kitchen confidence that makes them want to cook for their whole family. Perfect for curious kids who love food\, creativity\, and the joy of making something from scratch.  \nLittle Chefs meets November 18 from 12:00–4:00 PM at High Five Books\, 141 N Main Street\, Florence MA. \nExisting and current clients: Please register through Tutorbird. New clients: Please register by selecting “1/2 day pop-up program\,” then the correct month (November)\, date (the 18th)\, and time (12-4pm). \n

SUMMARY:Mini-Detective: Forensic Science Lab
DESCRIPTION:Mini-Detective: Forensic Science Lab\nDecember 2 | 12:00–4:00 PM | High Five Books | Ages 6–9 (Ages 10+ as CITs) \nSomething has happened at High Five Books. The evidence is waiting. And we need our best young detectives on the case immediately. \nMini-Detective is a half-day forensic science program where kids become real investigators — collecting evidence\, analyzing clues\, running lab tests\, and working together to solve a mystery that unfolds right before their eyes. This is not a passive whodunit. This is hands-on\, certified teacher-led forensic science where kids think critically\, observe carefully\, and discover that science is the most powerful detective tool in the world. \nActivities may include: \nSolve a Mystery — a real mystery has been set up and it is waiting to be solved. Young detectives will work together to examine the scene\, collect evidence\, analyze their findings\, and present their verdict. Every clue matters. Every observation counts. \nFingerprint Analysis — dust for real fingerprints\, lift them carefully\, and analyze them like real forensic scientists. Loops\, whorls\, and arches — every fingerprint tells a story and young detectives will learn to read them. \nInvisible Ink Messages — write and reveal secret messages using real chemistry — lemon juice\, heat\, and the science of oxidation. Because the best detectives always have a few secrets up their sleeve. \nEvidence Collection — practice the real art of collecting\, bagging\, and documenting evidence from a scene — the careful\, methodical work that real forensic scientists do every single day. \nMystery Powder Analysis — examine a collection of unknown white powders using simple chemical tests and careful observation to identify each one. Real chemistry. Real forensic science. Real satisfying results. \nEvery camper leaves with their official detective case file\, a head full of forensic science knowledge\, and the deep satisfaction of having cracked the case. Perfect for curious kids who love mysteries\, science\, and the thrill of finding out what really happened. 🔍 \nMini-Detective meets December 2 from 12:00–4:00 PM at High Five Books\, 141 N Main Street\, Florence MA. \nExisting and former clients: Please register through Tutorbird. New clients\, please register below by selecting “half day pop-up program\,” then the month (December)\, then the date (2nd)\, and lastly the time (12-4pm). \n
