DESCRIPTION:October 28 | 12:00–4:00 PM | High Five Books | Ages 6–9 (Ages 10+ as CITs) \nThe Witch’s Academy is open for one day only — and apprentice spots are limited. \nIn this fan-favorite Halloween program\, young apprentice witches tinker\, brew\, build\, and perform their way through an afternoon of flight science\, chemistry\, engineering\, and spooky acoustics. This is not a costume party. This is a real science program — dressed up in the most wonderfully spooky way imaginable. Costumes encouraged. \nActivities may include: \nBroomstick Glider Engineering — design and engineer your own paper broomstick glider\, test it on the runway\, and redesign to make it fly even farther. Explore the real science of lift\, drag\, thrust\, and what makes things fly. \nZoom on a Broom Giant Pumpkin Scale — just how heavy IS a giant pumpkin? Inspired by the beloved book\, young apprentices will explore weight\, measurement\, and the surprisingly enormous world of giant pumpkins through a hands-on scale activity that is as delightful as it is educational. \nAdvanced Potion Lab — brew dramatic potions\, which may include a midnight acid-base indicator and a smoking cauldron.  \nWitch Hat Engineering Challenge — compete to build the tallest freestanding witch hat using only cardboard and tape. Engineering under pressure. Halloween edition. \nEdible Witch’s Broom — we’ll explore phases of matter by melting chocolate and making edible brooms. Delicious witchiness! \nWitch’s Brew Apple Cider — sip warm apple cider witch’s brew and celebrate a season of science well done. \nWitch’s Workshop meets October 28 from 12:00–4:00 PM at High Five Books\, 141 N Main Street\, Florence MA. \nFormer and existing students\, please register through Tutorbird. New students\, register below. Please select “1/2 day pop-up program” and then ensure you have selected the correct month (October) and date (the 28th).  \n
