SUMMARY:Needoh Science
DESCRIPTION:Needoh Science\nNovember 4 | 12:00–4:00 PM | High Five Books | Ages 6–9 (Ages 10+ as CITs) \nSquish it. Stretch it. Squeeze it. And then find out exactly why it does what it does. \nNeedoh Science is a half-day materials science program built around one of the most satisfying\, most fascinating\, and most endlessly squishable objects in the known universe — the Needoh ball. Through hands-on experiments\, real science vocabulary\, and the kind of deeply satisfying exploration that kids want to do over and over again\, young scientists will discover the remarkable materials science\, chemistry\, and physics behind why squishy things behave the way they do. \nAnd then they will make their very own Needoh to take home. Because of course they will. \nActivities may include: \nThe Science of Squish — what makes something squishy? What makes something stretchy? What makes something both at the same time? Young scientists will explore the properties of non-Newtonian fluids and polymers through guided experiments that are as fascinating as they are deeply satisfying. \nMaterials Testing Lab — stretch\, compress\, bounce\, and squeeze a variety of squishy materials and record how each one behaves differently under pressure. Real science. Real data. Real fun. \nMake Your Own Needoh — the moment everyone has been waiting for. Using real materials and real chemistry\, every camper will make their very own Needoh ball — choosing their color\, customizing their creation\, and taking it home at the end of the day. A one-of-a-kind creation made entirely by their own hands. \nOobleck Exploration — explore the classic cornstarch and water experiment that is somehow both a solid and a liquid at the same time. How is that possible? Young scientists will find out — and will not be able to stop talking about it. \nEvery camper leaves with their very own handmade Needoh ball and a head full of materials science knowledge that will make them look at every squishy thing they encounter with completely new eyes. \nNeedoh Science meets November 4 from 12:00–4:00 PM at High Five Books\, 141 N Main Street\, Florence MA. \nExisting and former students: Please register through Tutorbird. New students: Please register below by selecting “1/2 Day Pop-up Programs\,” then select the correct month (November)\, date (4th)\, and time (12-4pm).
