DESCRIPTION:Boom Club Wednesdays\, 4:00–5:30 PM | High Five Books | Ages 6–9 (Ages 10+ as CITs) | September 9\, 16\, 30\, October 7\, 21\, 28\, November 4\, 18 \nWarning: things are about to get loud. 💥 \nBoom Club is an 8-session afterschool science club where kids explore the thrilling\, surprising\, and completely fire-free science of explosions — from fizzing firework jars and erupting volcanoes to flower pods that burst open and chemical reactions that go BOOM in the most spectacular\, safe\, and satisfying ways imaginable. \nThis is not your average science club. This is hands-on\, teacher-led\, certified-instructor chemistry where kids discover the real science behind the bang — and walk away understanding why things explode\, how fireworks get their colors\, and what makes a reaction go from fizz to BOOM. 🔬 \nEvery session\, young scientists record their observations\, predictions\, and discoveries in their official Boom Club Lab Notebook — building a complete record of eight weeks of spectacular science. 📓 \nAlong the way\, Boom Club scientists will discover: \n\nThe chemistry of reactions — acids\, bases\, gases\, and what makes things fizz\, pop\, and explode\nThe physics of pressure\, sound waves\, and kinetic energy\nThe geology of volcanoes and meteor impacts\nThe biology of explosive seed dispersal in nature\nThe real science behind fireworks and what gives them their color\nHow to make a hypothesis\, test it safely\, and record their results like real scientists 💛\n\nThis club is perfect for curious kids who love science\, can’t resist a good fizz\, and have always wanted to know what makes things go BOOM. Safely. Fire-free. Absolutely spectacularly. 💥 \nBoom Club meets Wednesdays from 4:00–5:30 PM at High Five Books. Ages 6–9. Ages 10 and up are invited to join as Counselors-in-Training. This club is 8 weeks long\, as it doesn’t meet on days that NPS has off of school/holidays. \nTo register\, please select “afterschool club” below and then ensure the correct month and date for the first day of the club is selected on the calendar (September 16).
