Pop the Confetti! We Are Celebrating Our ONE Year Anniversary.
From our the founder of The Community Classroom, Dr. Megan Allen, NBCT.
Pop the confetti, we are turning ONE! 🎉
Hi, friends. Can you tell I’m a little excited? 🤩
In case we haven’t met yet, I’m Megan, the owner + operator of 🍍The Community Classroom tutoring center. And I’m pumped because my business is celebrating its first birthday, a big and hard-earned milestone. They say the first year of a new business is always the most challenging, and our first year was 2020. Enough said!
I just want to take a moment to thank our clients, the most wonderful students and families ever. Thank you to our social media community for all the likes and the shares, to our local community for the referrals and collaborations. And our tutors. OUR TUTORS! The most talented, passionate, dedicated team of educators. Without your support and love, we wouldn’t be where we are.
Over the past year, we have:
⭐️ Expanded our team from 7 to 26 tutors and coaches,
⭐️ Launched a 15 episode podcast series for parents and caregivers,
⭐️ Supported 68 clients, virtually and in person,
⭐️ Opened our physical classroom doors in April (with masks, of course),
⭐️ Facilitated over 1,100 tutoring and academic coaching sessions,
⭐️ Created all the content that you see on FB, IG, TikTok, + Youtube,
⭐️ Published 29 blog posts for parents and caregivers,
⭐️ Appeared in The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, Education Post, WWLP’s Mass Appeal, Northampton Living, and the Hampshire Gazette,
⭐️ Developed 2 websites (whew!),
⭐️ Hosted 2 Storywalks and 1 Interactive Math Walk,
⭐️ Ensured that countless student faces leave our happy little classroom space with an improved sense of confidence and a smile on their face.
Next year, we have exciting things brewing. We are adding an SLP and 5 new tutors to our roster, bringing on a Tutor Apprentice, and adding new services for the community (Monday Drop-In Tutoring and College Admissions Essay Editing). And we are preparing to rock it with our September 21st Literacy Scavenger Hunt in downtown Northampton for #NiceTuesdaysNorthampton and with our Math Tent at Florence Night Out. Let the joy in learning commence!
It’s been so hard, but so rewarding. Late nights, lots of problem-solving, lots of pivoting. But I had a big dream to 1) serve families and 2) help kids feel better about school. And there is truly is nothing better than helping alleviate the stress that families feel with education. There is nothing sweeter than helping kids reconnect with their confidence as learners and seeing them stand a little taller. Ah, the smiles.
So we’d like to pop the confetti, take a moment to reflect back, and look forward to the next year in our little Community Classroom. Let’s celebrate!
